JABA Represents One of 600 Area Agencies on Aging Available for SmartSole Use
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – DECEMBER 15, 2014 – GTX Corp. (OTCBB: GTXO), a pioneer and global provider of personal location wearable technologies, and the Jefferson Area Board for Aging (JABA) are pleased to announce the execution of a pilot agreement for use of GTX’s flagship SmartSoles with JABA clients in the city of Charlottesville and the surrounding counties of Central Virginia. The pilot is planned to kick off during the second week of January 2015, and involves the use of 15 SmartSoles with identified JABA clients.
“The Jefferson Area Board for Aging is pleased to be chosen as the first of more than 600 Area Agencies on Aging in the nation to pilot the GPS SmartSole,” commented Marta M. Keane, Chief Executive Officer, Jefferson Area Board for Aging. “The value of the SmartSole to enhance the safety of our seniors with dementia, as well as peace of mind for their caregivers is without precedent. It also serves as an asset for public partners such as the local police, who may be called on to locate and rescue seniors who have become lost. Seeking technology that pairs compassion with meeting both senior’s and community need is consistent with JABA’s vision, values and mission to be a leader in innovation that supports aging populations.”
Andrew Duncan, Director of GTX Corp, commented, “As a recognized leader in providing services to the aging community, JABA is the perfect candidate to pilot our GPS SmartSoles, while offering a first step in penetrating the nationwide network of Area Agencies on Aging. We are thrilled to work with them on implementing this first-of-kind technology for these agencies”
Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) were created by a federal law in 1974 to help older Americans and their caregivers live quality lives with independence and dignity. AAAs are considered expert local resources for all aspects of aging, providing advocacy, planning, funding and education services.
“JABA and the more than 600 additional Area Agencies on Aging across the country are providing critical and needed services for our growing aging society,” commented Patrick Bertagna, CEO of GTX Corp. “We are proud JABA recognized the value of our GPS SmartSole for the senior community at risk of wandering and look forward to supporting JABA in this pilot and through a commercial roll out.”
Since 1975, the Jefferson Area Board for Aging (JABA) has served the needs of the elderly in the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson. Throughout the years as a federally mandated Area Agency on Aging to our current position as one of the most celebrated and successful organizations for the aging, JABA has never lost focus of the needs and desires of the community. Working with state and local government, educational institutions, citizens of all ages, businesses and other private organizations, JABA has consistently risen to the challenge of its mission to promote, establish and preserve sustainable communities for healthy aging that benefit individuals and families of all ages.
